Do doctors understand test results?
« on: 11/07/2014 07:19:19 »
An article in the BBC shows a shocking ignorance of test results, survival rates and other
basic facts by your doctor. In fact they are so ignorant they are putting your life at risk by giving unnecessary treatment or dangerous drugs for non - existent or benign conditions.

It is deliberately compounded by the fact drug companies need doctors to be confused as much as possible so that they can pedal their products just so that doctors feel they are on the "safe side" even though the patient won't be on the safe side.

Read this shocking indictment of doctors and their general numerical and medical incompetence in the field in which they practice.

Also when you go to a doctor keep this article in mind.As it shows your doctor is totally clueless when TESTED as below.

"In 1992, shortly after Gerd Gigerenzer moved to Chicago, he took his six-year-old daughter to the dentist. She didn't have toothache, but he thought it was about time she got acquainted with the routine of sitting in the big reclining chair and being prodded with pointy objects.

The clinic had other ideas. "The dentist wanted to X-ray her," Gigerenzer recalls. "I told first the nurse, and then him, that she had no pains and I wanted him to do a clinical examination, not an X-ray."

These words went down as well as a gulp of dental mouthwash. The dentist argued that he might miss something if he didn't perform an X-ray, and Gigerenzer would be responsible.

But the advice of the US Food and Drug Administration is not to use X-rays to screen for problems before a regular examination. Gigerenzer asked him: "Could you please tell me what's known about the potential harms of dental X-rays for children? For instance, thyroid and brain cancer? Or give me a reference so I can check the evidence?"
Gigerenzer Gerd Gigerenzer

The dentist stared at him blankly. ...

How is the OP relevant to the thread title?

How does this anecdote from 1992 about a dentist in Chicago show that my doctor, in the UK, in 2014, is totally clueless?  :o

Because it is well known that all medical professionals are part of a worldwide conspiracy to kill healthy people.

For what it's worth, a dental x-ray delivers about 1 microsievert of effective dose, equivalent to about 3 hours of natural background radiation, or eating 100 gram of brazil nuts.

Health freaks should beware of "lo-salt" products. The potassium they substitute for sodium is naturally radioactive.

We are all going to die.
