Microwave ovens use non-ionizing radiation , ( which is the same as radio waves ).

Ionizing radiation is required for radiation sickness.

Excess microwave exposure can cause burns, similar to electrical burns or burns from touching a hot surface. The effect depends on the wavelength of the microwaves (longer wavelengths penetrate further beneath the skin).

Microwaves can also cause cataracts, leading to blindness.

Your home microwave has very effective sealing to keep the microwaves inside - but if the door seal is damaged, have it checked out.
