Does anybody know how to record what's coming over a cable box with a computer?

If the box has analog "video" & "audio" outputs , there's are [~20] "video capture" gadgets to feed those signals into a computer USB socket ...

It is of help - you now have the magic term DTV300 to feed into a search engine like giggle or bong.

Hi David. Thanks for all you help but I was still unable to find what I was looking for. Perhaps a result of my computer skills not being the greatest. Can you assist me, please?

I don't know if I can be of much help - I have a device of that kind myself, but I simply don't use it because the picture quality is too poor and it couldn't handle a netbook screen at all. Also, anything that works in Britain will likely need to be different from a device for America, so your best bet is to go to http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=USB+TV+tuner and read a lot of reviews. If you buy one online you may be able to send it back within a week and get a refund if you aren't happy with it (assuming the law's the same where you are as it is here). I don't know if you're wanting to pick up analogue or digital broadcasts, but that's something you need to check, and be aware that you need to attach these devices to an aerial.

The picture quality produced by my DTV300 is excellent and I often watch motor racing events on my computer monitor rather than my regular TV so that I can get additional information from the internet simultaneously and push the TV to a small area of the screen.
