If you’ve ever had experience of the bacteria Salmonella, you’ll know it can be a pretty unpleasant thing: It’s both a major source of food poisoning and the bacteria responsible for Typhoid. But now scientists in Germany and the US have found a way to make genetically modified Salmonella target cancerous tumours without the unpleasant effects we normally associate with the bacteria. Philip Garsed spoke to Arizona State University’s Professor Roy Curtiss to find out more…
