Is Norfolf Island effect a magnetic link 24/7?
« on: 21/05/2015 21:01:57 »

The Norfolk Island effect is a new physics explanation of sun/earth magnetic linking which increased radio interference in the ionosphere at dawn and sunset.  In classical physics the daytime solar wind is assumed to be made of particles only but in 1945 it was discovered that solar magnetic storms on the suns surface emitted magnetic interference thus linking the sun and earths magnetic fields as witnessed by early radar and radio engineers. Surely the advancing dawn takes the space weather events along with it and we feel it 24/7!

The "Norfolk Island effect" is due to radio emissions from the Sun, which are heightened at times of increased sunspot activity. Sunspots also can sometimes trigger Coronal Mass Ejections (CME) which sometimes hit Earth. The orientation of the magnetic field in the CME relative to Earth's magnetic field affects the intensity of the resulting auroras.

So I guess you could say that the "Norfolk Island effect" causes a temporary magnetic linking of the Sun and the Earth.

The Solar Wind is present 24/7, but CMEs striking Earth are fairly infrequent.

"Dawn" is a local effect on the Earth's surface, caused by the rotation of the Earth.

Dawn does not exist between the Earth and the Sun - it is always "daytime" in this 150 million km wide zone. So dawn cannot sweep any space weather along towards the Earth, because dawn does not exist here.

Space weather hits the Earth because it is blasted out of the Sun by the force of the CME, sometimes hitting Earth in under 24 hours. It does not depend on external forces to sweep it along.

Not exactly new
