Certainly an interesting pattern - can you take some closer-up images and also tell us a bit more about the item, where it came from and so on?

I found it in northern ontario when I was gathering up some amethyst crystals. It was a rock that broke open after a blast.  The other half was broken up too much.  I didn't think much of this piece at the time.  After showing a few people years later, I am now trying to find out what it is.

Concentric banded features occur in minerals ( no fossil required ) ...

I suppose.  However that concentric piece appears to have been built up layer by layer and we are seeing a cross section of that. Hmmm.  What you think?
