I have never thought about that. Interesting. Have you tried it again without the musicto see if mind is less willing to remember without it, or if it's just a coincidence?

Wow !!..this is fantastic realmswalker. Yes, I agree with Karen that perhaps , (if you can go with out) try and see for yourself what the next few nights would be like without the music.

Though....it's too much of a coincidence that just as you start listening to music you just happen to start recollecting your dreams.

I wish I knew if the music is either making recollection easier of is in fact manifesting more dreams...the only way to know that I suspect would be a few sleep studies...else just a few home trials of your own.

What about talk radio ?...have you tried that...

There is certain a fair bit of conjecture as to whether sounds you hear whilst asleep might or might not have an affect on the you whilst you're asleep....I think it's because there are states in your sleep where you are open to suggestion...akin to hypnotherapy....

fascinating !!

i slept last night withotu music...it was harder to fall asleep, and i have no recallable dreams...
And another interesting note...4 times i have woken up while the song american pie was playing!
(i have a special connection to that song due to a summer camp experiance...CTY, if any of you know what im talkin about....probably not)

I have a theory, perhaps the songs i hear at night associate with my dreams and then when i listen to that music when i wake up, it reminds me of my dreams?

I love that old song. Perhaps the types of songs, ie American Pie or other such songs could be compiled into cds which promote association with lets say a sad or scarry dream or a happy jovial dream state. If you could narrow the type of music which possibly may or may not trigger a certain type of lovely dream, you could compile yourself a CD which could bring great joy and wonderful memories in your dream world! EH?

Maybe you're not sleeping as deeply when the music is on.  I have no clue if this is true, but I remember hearing somewhere that we are more likely to remember a dream if we wake up in the middle of it?  Anyone else heard this idea?

I think it is the case that you are more likely to remember dreams if you wake up during the dream (certainly my experience - but them, I very, very, rarely remember dreams, and even if I do recall them immediately upon waking, I usually forget them very soon after).

I have found no correlation between sleeping with/without music or light has any relationship to whether I remember my dreams.

I know there must be dreams, but rarely remember them during stressful times. If stress is intense or prolonged I find I have a recurring nightmare that comes and haunts me like a ghost from my past.. You know what I mean.. A dream I had as a child, silly as it may be comes back exactly the same as it was then, but still scares the soup out of me! I wonder why that is?

i think this may be psychosomatic. you got used to the soothing tones of the radio/music and used that as a sort of comfort blanket to help you sleep. without it you feel lost, abandoned and restless and therefore unable to sleep.

in part it is down to the music, but you have conditioned yourself to perceive music at bedtime as a prompt to sleep.

when i was younger, not that im old, i had tropical fish in my bedroom. when my loving sister chopped them up in revenge for me throwing darts at her i obviously had no need for the tank and it went.

it took me a long time to go to sleep after that, i had been conditioned to the sound of the air pumps.
