What happens when we die?
« on: 23/11/2015 21:36:19 »
I'm not asking what happens to our flesh; I want to know if there is an afterlife. Does our conscientiousness survive our death? Or do we simply cease to exist, just like like it was before we existed?

In my opinion there is nothing after death, at least not for the deceased.

Proving that would be impossible.

If not buried dead body will just start decay.if brunt ashes will decay.if buried decay faster I guess...so at the end everything decays down in the sand and then grows back as tree or a plant I guess.... Consciousness dies with and when brain does

I'm not asking what happens to our flesh; I want to know if there is an afterlife. Does our conscientiousness survive our death? Or do we simply cease to exist, just like like it was before we existed?

In my “The Fabric of the Soul” book I explore three solutions for God and the Universe. The simple solution is for a single light speed universe. For this case our soul is composed of radiated dot-waves which is the cause of the gravitational field. The world of the dead centers at the center of this Earth. There the Earth God exists. Within the Earth God lies the Gods of man. The Jewish God is one little God. There are many Christian Gods of the Churches and nations.
When you die, you mind still exists in spiritual energy. Your soul survives within the heat of your body. In death your soul loses a spiritual energy source. It could head toward the center of the Earth and your particular spiritual collective. Then you will be absorbed by your God. Individual life after death is very short but you can be remembered and live again in the future by an Earthly reincarnation process or a cosmic reincarnation process to other Earths.
Those who are not absorbed by their Gods will end up in the outer darkness away from the surface of this Earth. There they will freeze and perish quickly. Thus death does not involve any suffering. It is like being lost in a storm in Alaska and freezing to death rapidly. The soul will die until it moves toward the various Gods of man. Until you are absorbed or frozen your spiritual mind will continue to think.

That would be hellish : the earth's core is as hot as the surface of the sun ...

It all depends on who you ask.

Jews go to Sheol- the underworld or land of the dead, where they sleep. Ofcourse for jews also: what lives on is their Name!

Christians, that believe in Jesus and do not sin- will go to heaven, the rest that do sin would go to Sheol also and sleep. Although many Christians will talk about "pergatory" which is an invention and has no bases in Scripture- neither does Hell actually.

Muslims seem to be in a similer position to the Jews and will go to Sheol and wait for the day of Judgement.

Buddhists and Hindus will talk about reincarnation, with the difference that Buddhists do not want to reincarnate and hope to become "nothing" by becoming enlightened, and then as nothing, not needing not come back- it's kinda like Bastian lost and the great nothing won: to say the nightmare of a childrens story, is actually the grand dream of most buddhists.

Speaking of childrens stories Peter pan will tell you that death would be a great adventure.

Some more agnostic people might actually say "I dont know"

And some might talk about energy not being destroyable, and how we all drift off to become a part of a tree or something.

I do not think it any of these examples from different religions and groups that our consiousness survives, rather our soul does.

So maybe there is a question as to what degree is our soul is involved in our consciousness.

I have to start with I don't know.
Having that disclaimer out of the way lets do some speculating.
I am not religious and this is not to my understanding a religious site, so lets stay away from all the different superstitions.
Science tells us that for the Universe to operate as we observe it operating, then it follows some laws that can't be broken.
One of these laws is that all information is conserved. It can not be lost to the Universe.
Now we know that all that makes you what you are, (different to me) can theoretically be accounted for as an amount of information. That includes your own personal very complex but finite Electromagnetic pattern.
While you live parts of that pattern is continually subject to change. Ageing, learning, etc. These are all changes that a living organism goes through. At the moment of death all changes to the physical "you", stop.
Death therefore stops change for the complete assemblage of information that constitutes you. Yes some parts move on and keep changing, like your body decomposing, but that is no longer information that effects the complete structure that represented you.
So we come to your question. What happens to the information that represented you?
Does it get lost to the Universe?
All I know is, Science says this can not be so.

That's all I have. As I said at the top. I do not know.
Maybe someone else can expand on that, with hopefully logical argument or speculation.
Otherwise we will be left with all the superstitious drivel, and honestly that never helps anyone.

We will go to where our ancestors live... As our Asian spirit.
But exactly what happens, I can not tell you. Because I am still alive :)

What happens when we die? Pointless question because

(a) you will find out soon enough, and

(b) you can't do anything about it.

However you can live in the certainty that nobody has ever come back with a photograph, so everything you have ever been told about it is guesswork at best and cynical lies at worst.

Look up Ryan Hammons and James Leininger, then the work of Dr. Jim Tucker who's interviewed kids with past life memories.  Most of it comes down to luck, which is as unfair as anything.

Spiritus (breath, booze) was the Vulgate mistranslation of pneýma (Latin vis, English wit); by medieval times it was supplanted by humor and by modern times it was supplanted by hormone and neurotransmitter.

I hate how New Agers keep talking about "raising your vibrations" or distinguish "higher" and "lower" vibrations as if more is better or if more is correlated to altitude; the former comes with more entropy and noise.  If brainwaves were correlated to this, you'd get seizures; if ECGs were correlated to this, your heart would explode.  A lot of opinions are grounded in rumors, mis-understandings, and wishful thinking; so-called universal laws may not hold much or at all.

Jewish Pharisees and Saduccees were divided about the afterlife and soul .. but Jesus died for all men so the Pharisees and Saducees will be in heaven for eternal life with God with the Muslims and even the Baptists who say alcohol is evil.
Information is only information .. soul is love and person .. we are not a memory stick.

We will worship God who created us .. for eternity .. thanks to Jesus Christ who died for our sins, who rose from the dead to prove resurrection, to ascended to heaven to prove that we too will be resurrected and ascend.

You can certainly know positively 100% .. "Seek, and ye shall find."  That does not just apply to science.  Jesus Saves.

Are you sure?
Why? And no superstitious drivel please. This is "The naked Scientist" forum. There are other more appropriate forums for that sort of thing.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irreducible_Mind

From various theistic views there is the idea of more to life than matter alone.  Even possibly in regards to Spinoza's god. Be open minded, who in 1945 would have imagined there would be dark matter?

It is hard to imagine a mind existing past death, that formed by chance.

UK and NZ scientists Dr Peter Fenwick and Dr Karl Jansen have explored this matter. The earlier is well qualified.
