Big bounce versus big bang; which is the better candidate for the origin of the universe??

Technically, a Big Bounce is not the origin of the universe - it is the continuation of a previous universe which had a Big Crunch. At one time, Einstein supported this theory.

Oscillating Universe models were developed before Dark energy was noticed. With Dark Energy, it looks like our universe is unlikely to fall back into a Big Crunch.

It was noticed at an early stage that an oscillating universe violates the second law of thermodynamics. Although it's not clear to what extent  thermodynamics applies to something which is essentially a big nucleus; some theories suggest that no information can be lost from a closed universe...
