Feedback: there's less snow in the Antarctic

Roger Biggs asked the Naked Scientists:
Your response to "Translocation of Polar Bears to the Antarctic" omits an important fact. There is very little snow around the Antarctic Coast. The snow falls on the plateau and is either powder-ice or a glacier by the time it gets to the coast. Coastal snow is "drift" rather like loose, dry sand. Where will the PB's hibernate?
