I have created a self experimentation google group for those of us already engaged in self experimentation and testing to come together in a coordinated manner and test viable options for POIS remedies, coping strategies, and "cures" god willing. This is an email group. i have created it because it's focus will be very specific and is intended for participants only. However, results will be made available to the forum when conclusions are drawn.

This is a volunteer group intended for medically responsible individuals only. This means that you don't do anything without consulting a doctor or expert(nobody wants to be responsible for the suffering caused by reckless suggestion.)Having said that, ultimately people are responsible for their own well being.

In this group we will share our experiences of remedies that we try collectively. If you are interested in joining this google group please message me with you email and I will add you to the group. I suggest you create a "dummy" gmail account in order to maintain your privacy. This is easy, free, and only takes a second.

Would it screw up the study if I continued Levitra? Painful to think of going back to full-blown POIS if the remedy doesn't work..............
That's a hard call to make. You have decide how or if to take that risk.

Girlwind, there might be a slight misunderstanding. What I meant is that I didn't want to skew the study results with my 'aberrant participation', i.e., being on Levitra.

If you decide to try fenugreek, your pharmacy can look up its interaction effect with your other Rx medications in their computer.

As Counterpoints suggested, it would also be good to discuss with your doctor. Fenugreek stimulates your pituitary's oxytocin.

Some suggestions:
1) Avoid orgasm, as long as you are able
2) Talk to a physician.  Mention this forum.  Tell him there are 150+ other people with a very similar condition.  Tell him it is called "POIS: Post Orgasmic Illness Syndrome".  Tell him/her a scientific journal article was published on this condition, by Dr. Waldinger (MD).
3) Discuss beta-blockers, relora, fenugreek, zoloft, wellbutrin, levitra, garlic, salt-water, etc. with your physician. 
4) Consider cortisol, prolactin, thyroid (TSH, T3, T4), DHEA, blood tests.  Get your blood pressure checked, and your heart rhythm.  Also consider a blood sugar test.

Good luck.

I want to add that regular exercise helps some of us - at the gym, in the pool, on the mountain, etc. It also strengthens the libido.

Sohail, can I make a friendly suggestion? Don't jump at every cure-possibility you read about. Or you will drown in a sea of data! We present MANY MANY possibilities, but very few are acted upon. And what works for one person, doesn't necessarily work for another person.

My suggestion is to try and relax, go more slowly, and think about everything you see here. Then move slowly and decide to try what is COMFORTABLE FOR YOU AND YOUR DOCTOR. For example, Levitra works somewhat for me, but I would NEVER recommend it for YOU.

Sohail, we are all still searching. Some of us who have found temporary "cures" have not tried them for a long time. So we all continue to be a little bit cautious.

So keep thinking independently and asking the good questions which you have been and you will find better and better answers as you go along!

Sohail, I searched the posts and found John21's answer to my garlic question such as you asked:

Demografx, I simply eat at least a clove a day... I chop it up and put it on a cracker with a spread topping to mask it a little. P.O.[postorgasmic] I tend to eat more than one/day.

SOHAIL, this may help you better find things from the 95 pages we now have!

SEARCH POIS FORUM WITH GOOGLE!

I just stumbled on this. As many of you know, the TNS Search is a work in progress. Can be frustrating.

So I searched Google to see how to better Google-search our POIS Forum. Why? Because we have an overwhelming amount of data: nearly 2 years' worth of posts from 130+ Forum members!

I think I found the way.

In the Google search box, type
whatever you're interested in finding[space] site:http://www.thenakedscientists.com/

for example, I tried
demografx site:http://www.thenakedscientists.com/

and 1,000+ results came up for "demografx" within POIS Forum!

whenever I tried to use Google "as is" - without the way I described above - I would typically find only about two (2) results!

Google even provides you results with the Message# for each result.

POIS DIARY

Today is Day 5. POIS is over. But disappointed with 4 days fatigue, albeit mild. Levitra seems to take care of the "crazier" symptoms. But fatigue is still annoying. Mildly affects motivation, concentration indirectly.

It's improved. I shouldn't complain after 30+ years of POIS agony!

8. Do not overtrain: Strength coach Charles Poliquin recommends not
training more than 2 days in a row. Doing so will simply overtax the
hormonal system and therefore increase cortisol levels. Listen to your
body. If you do not feel recovered from your previous workout, simply
take an extra day off or reduce the number of sets you perform in your
workout.

I may have stumbled on something 'new' with POIS and serotonin (I ran a google search and found little in this thread about serotonin).

Question for POIS suffers (to test serotonin) - does anyone have an addictive personality or become easily addicted to things like alcohol, tabacco, attention, people etc.

I ask because outside of orgasms I've never been addicted to anything, moreover I can't be addicted to anything.  I can't really grow an attraction to anything enough to depend on it.  So is this just me or a trait of POIS suffers?

Interesting question. What's your take Limejuice, on the connection between serotonin and addiction?

I think of serotonin more in connection with depression a la SSRI's.
