Has there been any real progress on spinal cord regeneration?

For the uncounted thousands that have perfectly healthy bodies which they cannot move or control any advance in getting their injured or severed spinal cord nerve to regenerate would be a most wonderful happening.

In South Africa where I live there have been two cases, one of which stem cells were used to bridge the gap and reconnect the break in the spinal cord, of a previously very healthy young man.

Sadly with limited success?

Alan
