What is this spherical, metallic rock?
« on: 07/10/2016 03:13:55 »
Found a spherical rock in Central Mexico that once broken turned out to be silver looking interior with a smell of sulfur, Any ideas as to what it is?

maybe a pyrite nodule aka fools gold. FeS2, density about 5g/cc "feels heavy" for it's size, not much attraction to a magnet, black streak on porcelain. pyrite crystals are pretty yellow but I've seen some nodules with just a slight yellow color.
