Why did I gain weight?
« on: 02/04/2007 23:18:02 »
I have just caught up with your programme of 18th March in which you spoke about fat around one's middle.

What bothers me is how can we get rid of it - or who do we go to?

My increase in size happens around six years ago when I started the menopause at the age of 50.  My weight has now stablised after I had gained around 2 stones in as many years!

For the first 40 years of my life I was actually underweight. At 5ft 7in my weight, when in my 20s, used to hover at around 9 stone.   It is now just under 13 stone!
The weight is mostly around my middle - my legs and arms are still quite slim.   I am particular about the food I eat - only eating "proper" food rather than rubbish.   I walk to the shops - taking around half an hour brisk walk - so why on earth did I gain that weight?

Is there anyone I could go to - I haven't much faith in my Doctor referring me to the right person so where do I go to for advice?

Mod edit - formatted the subject as a question.  Please try to do this to help keep the forum tidy and easy to navigate - thanks!
