Argh, I find French so hard!!!! I prefer Latin :D

Still stuck with those Indoeuropean languages - why not branch out into one of the Finno-Ugric languages (although I believe DoctorBeaver would probably prefer you learnt Swahili :)).

Well, yes, they are both Romatic (or Romance) languages - i.e. they are both derived from Latin, the language of the Romans.

The reason why we think of romance to do with love stories was because in the 11th and 12th centuries, the troubadours of southern France wrote and sang a lot of love songs in Occitan/Provençal is a romance language (in many ways purer than French or Spanish, although the territory of Occitan covers parts of Italy, Provençal in France, and some of Spain, but the largest part is covered by Provençal).

George that sounds very interesting.. I wonder how many of the songs had been saved and written down from those times I would love to read them! It sounds like a really beautiful history!

Yes.. I really don't like this "Romantic" language stuff. :o

But it was you who started the French language thread :)

You could have started a German language thread - German is not a Romantic language (come to that, since English is a Germanic language, although with a lot of non-german influence, so English too is not a romantic language).

It is very quiet, so you may have to turn the volume up to hear it.

Fair is her body, clear her face,
White her hands, and her fingers long.
Gentle bearing, tender smile:
Well-formed she is, yes, everywhere.
I rarely see her…

Well when he ever gets there let him know that he has the worst work ethic I have ever seen. I cannot believe a person could stay in busness so long with service like that! He should be ashamed and Perhaps he should change his career so that it would go along sense of time, perhaps he is more of a century person instead of a sunny morning or yearly person.. seems like he maaaaaaaaybe should have been named after his predecessor Rip van Winkle!
