Chris has been giving away mud powered clocks lately on TNR radio show, how do they work?

That's interesting.. Is it using the minerals in the mud as a place to store energy from the sun? like does it use some very sensitive feeler and the sun to power it with the minerals as some sort of battery for storing energy..? LOL.. how bad is that for non scientific goodness... How are you..and did you get Anastasia home ok?

Does anybody know what the electrodes are made of, and what's in the mud?  Or do you supply your own mud?

I've been hearing about this on the podcasts as well, and I must admit I'm intrigued.  It must be an electrochemical cell of some sort.  You can get the same sort of effect by sticking a zinc electrode in a zinc salt solution and a copper electrode in a copper salt solution, and connecting the two electrodes through a clock (or light, etc.).

Thats interesting and maks a little since but I know nothing about electrodes! Are they made from metals?

They usually are, but don't have to be.  They just have to conduct electricity.  Graphite rods work well, too.

Awwww, I wish I got hold of one of these mud-powered clocks! I've got this one where you put dissolve salt in water, and you put the water in a clock, but when the water evaporates, the salt appears to the top, and it gets all icky and sticky and smelly! I've tried orange juice, it's the same! I don't use it now.. It's somewhere in my drawers..
