Do some vegetable HAVE to be cooked ?

I read somewhere that all white veggies such as potato, garlic, onion, etc and as mentioned here previously and the white sap from lettuce is toxic.
Garlic and onion is actually good for us not the bacteria we have in us though. lettucine is hallucinogenic, I've been told!
Cassava is the third largest source of carbohydrates for human food in the world. Toxic yes,improper preparation of bitter cassava causes a disease called konzo and can be permanent, caused from the cyanide in it.
