Does it have to be exposed to the oxygen to solidify? And is there an oxidising reaction in this?

Here they say it polymerize in contact with water, even in traces, always present in the air or in an object's surface:

Oo.. Reading through it.. I think it says that when the water evaporates away from the solution (glue), that's when it starts to solidify and go all sticky and hard.

So when the lid is shut and tight, the water won't evaporate, which is why it doesn't stick to the inside tube?

super glue is cyano-acrylate, CH2=CH-CO2-CN, a low molecular weight, low
viscosity liquid. It has no adhesive properties. Upon exposure to the
atmosphere it polymerizes rapidly to form a high molecular matrix. It is the
polymer that gives the adhesive properties.
