Hello,

I'm neil...and you are ?..

This is some candles.

Nice aren't they ?....................................(LOL..are you lot getting fed up with my new trend of posting a piccy and then saying that it's nice ?)

...anyway....I have heard that a candle will burn considerably longer if first placed in the freezer for a few hours ..is this true ?

.........and ...is there a compromise in the nature of the flame of a frozen candle ie: is it smaller ?

Because I really don't know....!!..do ewe ?

Don't know - Try it!

But it could be true - candles burn in the way that they do because wax around the flame is melted, moves up the wick by capillary action and then burns - making heat which melts more of the surrounding wax etc...

Perhaps if the candle starts off colder overall, you get less wax melting and the candle might burn slower? ???

Definite case for a simple experiment. You could make it clearer by keeping one of the candles in a bucket of ice after taking it out of the freezer so that it stays colder.

Unless you continue to count the wax dribbling off the table?

Candles should not be left burning that close to the edge of the table and they should be used in conjunction with a propper candle holder.
Oops!, looks like my day job in health and safety crept in there for a minute.

If they are tiny...then I suspect all you'd need is an hour !

I would take a piccy of when you've just lit them...then again half way through...and again just as the first one is going to burn out.

It will be intersteing to see if the flame is different for each one too !!
