Why no coloured tyres?

I would not know if it is scientifically possible to make rubber in colors tough enough for this purpose; (for whatever it may be worth, my experience with air hoses has been that black rubber holds up better than red, and with electrical cords that white rubber [or whatever] holds up better than brown or black). However, given the propensity of auto junkies to adorn their craft with all manner of doodads such as oversize rims and spinning hubcaps, I would think that the colored tire idea might be marketable in the form of designer stick-on labels that you would stick onto your tires the way round labels are stuck onto Compact Disks you record.
