Neil how many of those things do you have? LoL.

Notice how cola goes flat more quickly when ice is added.

It does? I put ice in it all the time and I don't notice a difference. Taste or Viewing it.

they are here for everybody to use ... http://bestsmileys.com/ (just try not to overwhelm the site with them  ;))

Is it me or is cola the fizziest goddamn drink on the planet !! ?..I swear..one thimble full and the cup overflows !!

I was told that the spoon in the neck of the campaignbottle did not prevent the wine from going flat.  It was just a signal to the waiters not to remove the bottle because it was not empty - or just a kind of mark towards others that "this is our bottle - keep off !".
(info remembered from some guided tour in a champagne cellar - I just am not sure which)

I just found this:

It's from the TV Program MYTHBUSTERS:

Placing a silver spoon in a bottle of champagne can keep it more bubbly for longer.

Busted

The spoon actually reduces the fizziness of champagne. In a blind taste test when compared to several controls (opened champagne, re-corked champagne and unopened champagne) both Adam and Jamie ranked the spooned champagne the lowest in terms of fizziness.

Nice Job Neily! LOL Good Paul... LOL see maybe it is all in my head! LOL..LOL
