i would probably not mind losing my hearing. i know it would be terrible to lose any of them, but at least with sign language you could still communicate. what do you guys think?

Smell so I don't have to smell all the nasty stuff even though I wouldn't be able to smell fresh cut grass and pizza! Yes Nice Question!

As you say, the sense of smell is also a substantial part of taste.  Aside from that, smell is the most basic of senses after touch, and so probably the one with the greatest emotional impact.

I would willingly lose my sixth sense, since I never had it anyway :)

I would lose my hearing.  As a child I completely lost my hearing for about year, but with medical help regained it.  I now have some hearing loss.  I hate it, but I suppose I can deal with it.  I'm terrified of losing my sight.  I've come close twice, but fortunately recovered.

I don't remember everything...it was a LONG time ago.  Something to do with the tubes being blocked.

i'm sorry. when my cousin was little she talked really weird and they found out when she was six that she had almost total blockage in her ear somewhere and she was saying things the way she heard them.the doctors said it would be like trying to hear in a waterfall

If you only have 5 senses you have lost a few already. How do you sense that you are hungry or need to go to the bathroom?
Probably the most important sense that everyone ignores is proprioception; I'd not like to lose it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proprioception
It's the sense of knowing where your limbs etc are without having to look at them. It enables you to close your eyes and still touch your nose (OK not an important example). Without it it's very difficult to balance etc.
Come to think of it my sense of balance isn't one I'd like to lose either.

Of the traditional 5 senses I guess I could do without taste, most people say I haven't got taste anyway but that's another story. Since taste only gives you options of sweet sour salt bitter and umami that doesn't seem a lot to lose. Smell seems to me to be rather important in letting you know what's going on in the world- you can smell a fire from miles away. By the time you taste something you have already had an opportunity to examine it.
Being able to switch off senses selectively might be useful.
