Heat melts something, a solvant desolves something, i will now hand it over to those in the know who can explain it because i'm getting confused  ;D

Are they different? If they are, why?
Usually dissolving means dispersing the body's particles among the solvent's particles (e.g. salt in water), while melting means making a solid become liquid.
