What are some good science fair ideas that are based around music. I can't think of any. And I'd really love to do my science fair on something I love.

Thanks Sim!

Bow about bottles with differing amounts of water inside to change the tones?

You can make a musical scale like Docs roller bladder and the bottles or fill them with different liquids like oil water to same level and see if the density and sound quality of the exact same bottle filled with various densities of liquid would make different sounds while the sound travels through the different densities..Ect etc...

Take say 8 bottles or however. same maker color size.. fill one with say liquid dish soap thick right?

fill the other with plain water . The other with vegetable oil, one with water and say 20 teaspoons of sugar, mixed up. do this with several different liquids until your bottles are ready labeled etc.. try to guess which bottle will make the lowest note or the highest when each is tapped with a plastic or different kind of striker.. don't break the bottle, or you can go with amounts to make musical notes etc.. decide your question etc etc..process experiment conclusion hypothesis etc.. I am sure I missed one LOL!

might be fun use heavy duty rubber bands that attach to forks or spoons for keys or tongue depressors etc then figure out what the keys will activate! LOL I don't know!

Dave did a nice one on last weeks show - check it out. What do you do at a science fair? Do a demonstration, just show your results or what?

It would be handy to know if it was a visual experiment that you had to perform in front of the class, or if you had to present a project with your findings.

Like i said before, look in the kitchen science section at musical ones Dave had done on the show for ideas and inspiration.

here are two:

Or what about, having a few mates in a room. Take their pulse and note their pulse rate. Then play them some of your favourite loud music for 5 minutes and see if that affects their pulse rate.
After the 5 minutes are up, take their pulse again and record it. let them have 5 minutes rest and then play them some soft soothing music and again take their pulse rate.

Does different styles of music affect your pulse rate?

This is how it has worked the last couple years. We give the teacher a paper saying this is what we are doing this is what we are testing this is what we thinks going to happen. All that good stuff.

Then we do all the testing, take observations and make graphes and everything. Make a poster board. And hope its good.

Then the teacher comes by and just ask you some questions about your project and then leaves to go to other students. If she likes yours you'll go on to the county science fair, and I really don't wanna.

And that one that you just posted (not the  links) sounds like a freaking sweet one.

Yeah I probably will. I never thought about doing something with poeple too. Maybe I could actually play the piano or guitar. Can't do both because they would be different variables.
