Question

Where do all the snails go in the summer? When it’s rainy and wet and Autumn time we see loads of snails but when it’s hot there are no snails in sight. Where do they go?

Answer

They hide! Snails need to maintain moisture on their skin at all times. So in hot, dry weather they don't want to be losing all that moisture. Also, in the light of day, they're very exposed to predators, so they tend to hide away. If you lift up a few rocks or big plant pots in your garden, you'll probably find them there!

If a snail crosses my way on a rainy summer day
Once in a while I wanna say
“Where are you heading to? Where are you trying to go?”
But the snail would move on through
And never would he say so.

Plenty lonely days are at my door
Cause that's what summer has in store
"Choose your own way" that's what all the stories say
But I don't know where I wanna be today

Maybe we're the same
On this rainy summer day
I'm just making my way
With no plans
Come what may...

I have been wondering this for years, but they will get squashed under the plant pots!!!!!!!!!

A few minutes after rain you can look outside and you'll find them. In the evening I found 2 snails hanging out on my fence after some rain showers. Snails are everywhere in London.

I can't find any snails.

That is very helpful to know and its 2017 so im only 10 and i love snails
