Title: Boils, yuck
Post by: optimomma on 03/08/2005 22:11:56
Chris and Dr. Kev,
My son, dad, mother and a friend of ours and his wife have been battling Boils.  My son's doctor says it is a staph infection.  The other people who have this prob are all old and musty.  He He.  Two times my son had to take a horrible medicine by mouth that I decided tastes like death (I did taste it)  Then the last time he had a boil come up we were able to give him the same medicine in pill form because he weighed enough and did not want to drink it again.  He swallowed 10 days worth with no probs.

Why do they continue to lay stagnet for a couple of months then reappear?  Is there a way to get rid of this infection. I have been told vitamin C daily, which we are doing.  Also a bath once a day in diluted bleach for a month.   I really need help with getting rid of this.  I don't think running a naked snail over the boil will help, but I guess I could try.

Where do these boils tend to occur, or are they all over ?

He has had them all over, including on his bum.  The doctor says his are brought are by infected insect bites.  We live in Texas and Mosquitos are a way of life here.  You have to just deal with them.  The very first one he had showed up on his lower arm.  There was a bite of somekind and he scratched it.  You should see him.  If CPS saw him they may take him away, he looks like I tied him up in the backyard and put invite signs out to all critters within 500 miles.  I feel for him.  Sometimes I have to give him Benedryll to help with itching.  I do not like giving that to him.

Neil, sorry I didn't think to ask the big baby.  I did go to the site, thank you.  It gives me a few more ideas to keep it well cleaned and hopefully contained.  Weird that we (my younger son, husband and myself) haven't had any boils.  Maybe it truly does have to do with suppressed immune system. I just want them to stop.  I know I have to keep him covered and slathered in Deet, sometimes that doesn't even help.  He loves to be outside.

Get hold of some kombucha and use topically and orally, order a mushroom or locate one locally and brew the stuff yourself. It does work and clears up acne. Also, use a lemon rubbed on the offending area, preferably as early as possible. Both work because of the acidic content, which gets inside the eruption and kills the bacterium, cleaning out the puss so that it becomes a clear watery substance instead of yucky luminous green. I treated my bull terrier pup with the stuff the other day as she had developed a large amount of spots on her face, possibly from the bite off a horse fly. Each day I bathed the area 3 times with the Kombucha and after 3 days the spots were flat and zero pus in them.

Place a small portion of the mushroom on the boil and tape it to hold in place, this will clean out the boil and kill off any bacterium.

Once you have the mushroom, all you need is teabags and sugar to brew it for yourself and each time you make a brew you get a new mushroom so do pass on the spare mushrooms to others.

Kombucha is excellent for treating mozzi bites also, it takes the itchiness out of them instantly and within a few hours removes most of the swelling and irritation.

Hope this helps
