The only elements I know of that form stable 1D polymers are carbon, sulfur and phosphorus, but only sulfur forms ...S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S-S... type polymers (I guess there are also ...C=C=C=C=C=C... ↔ ...C-C≡C-C≡C≡C... type materials, but that's fairly exotic). Mostly I think of carbon nanotubes as 1D C polymers. And red phosphorous is esentially ...P4-P4-P4-P4-P4...
