Title: what is this very heavy rock found in the ocean in NYC?

 [ Invalid Attachment ] VERY heavy for the size (about a small fist). Not magnetic.

Can you do some close-ups of the surfaces please? It's a bit hard to see clearly in those pictures.

It looks like part of a conduit, possibly a lump of black smoker or similar, I would speculate with my untrained eye...

It could be man-made, e.g. lead used to seal an iron-pipe ...

My guess is some sort of industrial slag.
