Title: making dogs howl
Post by: thebrain13 on 04/10/2006 22:40:35
I have a dog, and ive never heard her howl. Last night I was playing her, sounds of other dogs, and wolves howling, and even doing some howling myself. However she didnt howl, just looked at me like Im crazy. Maybe I am[:I] anyways anyone know some ways to get doggies to howl?

Depends on the dog, especially breed. Most "northern" breeds will howl(anything like a husky) though not all. Some hounds will howl as well. Most likely, she just isn't a dog that will howl. Incedently, I have about 30 dogs( all hunsky/hounds) and there is little as beautiful as hearing 25-30 of them howl in unison, generally every morning and every night( 2-3 minutes deration).

[:)]Actually You should buy an Harmonica and sit next to your dog blowing in and out in some kind of rhthum.. They seem to like the long drawn out lonesome sounds, I played the harmonica for all of ours and certain pitches seem to set them off... I am quite serious.. have had 5 dogs and it worked with each one of them! At first they just listen then they start fidgeting then they raise their heads and begin little howls they seem to enjoy it!! My Last boston Terrier loved it and would howl at nothing else![:D][:D]He actually got quite good at it!!

My Jack Russell loves the harmonica.  Anytime he hears one playing, he sings with it.  The theme song to Roseanne, The Cosby Show, Garth Brooks.  He sings with all of them.  It really is a beautiful sound.  He also likes the sax.
