Title: Can a woman prove her virginity?
Post by: Pseudoscience-is-malarkey on 25/10/2016 19:30:14
We have another case of a young woman selling her virginity for huge bucks so she can attend law school. Everyone has heard of "losing your cherry", a reference to the hymen. If the hymen is ripped, she must have had intercourse. But hymens, of course, can be torn by the simple act of masturbating, so I wonder what methods this guy will employ to ensure his purchased goods aren't "damaged". The hymen thing was a commonly employed method to confirm virginity in pagan Europe, and currently in much of the Middle East, Asia and Africa.

Also, the notion that a woman's female parts get stretched during intercourse, making further sex less pleasurable, yata, yata, yata, in absolute hog wash. It is, I think, based on a gross misunderstanding of sex and the female body.

The fact that this woman is the topic of national news shows she is not embarrassed about it. She will get her $200,000, and already has her "15 minutes of fame". To me, as long as there is consent, there is nothing wrong. But that's not the issue for this post.

Simple contract law. It is up to the purchaser to specify the product he wants, and for the supplier to prove that she has supplied it, using whatever test they have agreed beforehand. As long as the product is legal and legally owned, and the agreed test does not break any laws, the courts can enforce the contract and it is, literally, nobody else's business.

Problem arises when the value of the product is alleged to be its uniqueness. Provided the customer is satisfied in advance that the test will confirm uniqueness, I think the contract will still stand up in court, but may the lord have mercy on her soul if she is caught selling it again.

The key to success in business is to sell a zero-cost product for a high price to the stupid rich. Alas, very few stupid people ever get rich or stay rich long enough for the sellers to find them. Go, girl!

The simple answer to the question is "no, she can't".

What I find interesting is that I find the premise of the transaction somewhat disturbing, (and I'd think the same if it was a man making the same "offer") but I don't know why.
There's no harm to the parties involved.
There's (presumably) no deceit involved.
There's no harm to society (who, in principle, don't know about the transaction).
But somehow it bugs me.

weird question. If it's necessary the pelvic examination can prove it
