At least from the side of people living in Europe. For USA it might seem a different matter as they start up their LNG deliveries, as well as if they can restrict what comes to Europe.

As it looks today it wouldn't surprise me if Russia, and so Mr Putin, would think of annexing Ukraine in a case of 'winning it'. Don't think this was any planned intention from the beginning, gaining a fast and relatively bloodless victory,  but as it looks today with this war grinding on forever?

Then again, I think it's more probable with it spreading, all the way to the west. And then we can forget about 'winners'

Or we could say it has a lot to do with Mr Putin, and compatriots, the same Russia that once thought they would be able to join NATO, but got a polite 'no'.

If the USSR or Russia would have Joined NATO, things would have Probably been so Different...

Maybe then even China & India would have followed suit..

How come Canada, Australia & Japan are Not already part of NATO?

It's still about geopolitics Alan, no matter how you turn it around.
Bollocks. The planet has nothing to do with it, and such meaningless abstractions do not excuse bad behavior.

It is all about bullies and parasites being allowed to tell others what to do. Putin is a bully and a parasite (why else would he have joined the KGB?) just like Hitler, Trump, Pinochet, and various Popes throughout the ages.

Canada was a founding member and is still a member. The others do not have any geographical connection with the North Atlantic.
But don't let the facts spoil a good argument.

Well, it's all part of a game Alan. Which I think sux. That's why I push for a real democracy, instead of 'representative democracies' or any type of hierarchies. And so do you although you prefer a hierarchical model.

Let's talk about something different.

Cold winters

2018  https://www.ibtimes.co.uk/greenland-high-arctic-air-pressure-may-be-causing-extreme-weather-uk-1556870

They seem to forget this study

2016   https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2016/04/160426215430.htm

and a result of global warming

We will see more of this. Seesaw patterns of cold winters, droughts and floods in the summer hitting us more frequently and harder.

With it added greenhouse emissions from the arctic and surrounding areas, and wild fires growing.

We can't afford those wars on top of global warming, while also losing topsoil, forests, clean water and our groundwater. But the way we act we instead will create more of those blame games.

It made me curios

" “Brazil and China are the biggest recipients of GEF funding. Donor countries find it hard to swallow that so much of our overseas aid goes to them. So, we talk about broadening the donor base, ie adding parties like Brazil and China to the donor list rather than the recipient list. "
