Title: What are the differences in deuterium-to-hydrogen ratios between the earth and comets?

Claire asked the Naked Scientists:
   Hello,

I was wondering why the characteristic deuterium-to-hydrogen (D/H) ratio in Earth's oceans is much lower than the D/H ratio of many comets scientists have investigated?

Thank you
