Why can't we tear Space and Time ?What if space and time tears ?(what happens?)
« on: 26/01/2009 13:42:15 »
A.Einstein said we can't  tear space and time but we can bend it ?? Why can't we  tear Space and Time ? ... There are some experiments going on like symmetrical lasers points concentrated at one point then space and time will be unstable  ?? so, If there is a  tear then where does light go ?? I meanDoes the Information disappear( and appear  in other dimension) ?? or they enter into new dimension when light goes into the  tear ?

Ok, If we can  tear somehow space and time what do we find ??

I think you might mean tear; meaning to pull apart; tare is like a bill that needs to be paid [:)]

The whole idea that space-time is something we can manipulate is alien to my thinking; I know that Einstein had it that way and it is still taught that way in school, but I would take it with a grain of salt. The notion may change as we grow up [:)]

I see that you added to the Opening Post. Here's an article by Albert Einstein in which H. Ziegler mentioned that relativity phenomena develops naturally in flat space-time. Quote from the Einstein article:
    Quote
    H. Ziegler: If one thinks about the basic particles of matter as invisible little spheres which possess an invariable speed of light, then all interactions of matter like states and electrodynamic phenomena can be described and thus we would have erected the bridge between the material and immaterial world that Mr. Planck wanted.

    I like Ziegler's view.

The notion of flat space-time seems a bit academic to me; it can't exist anywhere in our universe.

I'm not sure that talking of 'tearing' space-time is the best way to view it, but gravitational time dilation results in time stopping in a sufficiently strong gravitic field i.e. at the Event Horizon of a Black Hole.  As space and time are the same (but appear different to us from our point of view) it would seem that space-time stops, resulting in a boundary in such circumstances.  I wouldn't regard it as a 'tear' but it certainly seems to result in a discontinuity.

...And its claws are as big as cups, and for some reason it's got a tremendous fear of stamps! And Mrs Doyle was telling me it's got magnets on its tail, so if you're made out of metal it can attach itself to you! And instead of a mouth it's got four arses!

Very true according to current theory. However I can describe a universe constructed as H. Ziegler argued back in 1909 and if you were placed in that universe you would not be able to devise any experiment that could tell you whether you were in that universe or the universe of present QM theory.
