While I applaud much of the effort used to recreate images of ancient creatures and environments, I wish they would give a more balanced view of the lifeforms around in the periods without just picking on the biggest and most aggressive beasts and the gory bits.

Mind you the saga  "When stromatolites ruled the world" would not be noted for its excitement  []

I agree but gore sells and in order for them to pull in the maximum amount of viewers they have  to compromise and either use creature's that are cute for the women or aggresive for the men. Everything in between is forgotten about.

I was actually a bit dissapointed and was expected a bit more from the first episode, hopefully it will improve.

I thought it was ok...and so did my 11 year old son and 9 year old daughter....so, what does that say about it ? I think Michael's hit the spot though, it's on prime time tv and is designed for the masses...in this case I would definitely call it Edutainment.....it's not Horizon though is it ?

Cool, anyways, I think the programme is OK, you have to accept that as they have a limited budget, and amount of time. They are only going to feature things that will appeal to the telly viewing public.

Agree the programme is good and they do give some cursory indications of what we think the ecologies were like but I would hae liked a Few more illustrations of the general environlent.  There are quite a few ecological "arms races" that could always make interesting viewing.  a bit of illustrations of the mass extinctions would also have been worthwhile.

I found walking with dinosaurs more informative and interesting. The computer graphics used in walking with monsters isn't as good as the previous dinosaurs series either.

Agreed. The graphics for some reason don't seem to be as detailed. I wonder why ? Anyway, the good thing about Walking With Monsters is that it comes before Little Britain.
