Title: Whyy oh whyy does the snot have to get hard?
Post by: Simulated on 09/01/2008 00:57:41: What causes it and why does it have to happen? Cuz onces it gets hard it's really hard to get out of my nose! Haha. Its really annoying.

Your body when it gets sick kicks in to help you rid yourself of germs etc by eliminating them via vomiting, diarrhea, runny nose, coughing sneezing ect. Sneezing loosens up the crud in your head and fills your nose and then your nose fills up right after, and allows you to move it on out through blowing it. Preferably in a kleenex , hankie, napkin , kerchief, hand.. Neils preference, lol, or removal by finger,... also Neils preference etc.. Just kidding Neily! I did leave out ingesting it as a diposal method... LOL!

Coughing helps move phlegm etc up from the lungs and out through the mouth nose etc.

Vomiting relives the bacteria and or germs that may be in your tum tum.. Diarrhea well you know the bowels etc. Remember your body is your friend it helps you to fight infection and germs, but you need to help also! LOL

Post by: Karen W. on 09/01/2008 01:47:25: I think drinking plenty of fluids and staying hydrated helps. If you are really congested you can lie down over the edge of your bed head hanging down over the side for ten minutes, sometimes this helps move things and loosen them a bit!

Then there is the head over a steaming hot bowl of menthollatum or vicks vapor rub helps, little under your nose to breath in and help loosen it. steaming in bowl with towel over head! Then blow nose!

Also the air you breathe hardens it also, especially if you did not blow it out while it was moist and it ran into your nose. if it sits in there long breathing the air will dry it out.

I am never annoyed about that. In fact, I like when my snot gets hard so I can just pick up my nose as if it was a booger.
