Please do not judge my morals. I just want to ask, because people are living creatures, they talk. And somebody said that he have seen a men sweat like horse with dense white scum. Is it really possible? And is it this particular state of things connect with human races?

Plant Sciences, Zoology & Evolution / Can touching mushrooms break the mycelium?
« on: 22/09/2007 20:56:05 »
Hello
Presently there is a mushroom season in Czech Republic and I wonder how firmly has the Boletus connect his micelia. I heard, that if you touch (I do not know how gently)young fruiting body hat, it will stop grow more. I suppose because you break the net. IS IT REALY POSSIBLE JUST WITH TOUCH?
Thank you

Mod edit - formatted the subject as a question.  Please try to do this to help keep the forum tidy and easy to navigate - thanks!

Plant Sciences, Zoology & Evolution / the dark flower betwen whites one
« on: 28/07/2007 20:49:29 »
Sorry. Bad explained by myself.
Please I would like to say that flowers in carrot are composed by umbel from small umbels of flowers and in the middle of the whole white colour umbel there is only one black flower. another flowers have white colloral. bird can see this dark point as they see the fly siting on the flower. they want to pick up this "fly" for lunch and by disturbing anthers ,like wind is working in catkins, pollinate carrot.
Has somebody really observed birds attacking the carrots flowers?... Or is this dark point only fashion for insect.

Plant Sciences, Zoology & Evolution / male XY chromosome
« on: 24/07/2007 08:44:28 »
Has male plant within dioceous plant group just one copy of gene in the end? like man XY chromosome. I have also some remembering that male bird do not have XY.
Thank you. I hope you understand question despite I am not so good in explaining what I mean.

Why wild carrot Daucus carrota has dark point in the middle of the inflorescence. I hear somethink that is for attracting the birds. they think that is insect and attack the inflorescence. Carrot is pollinate this way. but i am sceptic about birds as pollinator in carrot example because she has fragrance and nectar for pollinators_insect. And why evolution favour this.

Plant Sciences, Zoology & Evolution / black spots on leaves of Euphorbia humifusa and Polygonum hydropiper
« on: 23/07/2007 18:18:24 »
Why this two plants, despite being from different families have so similar black spots on their leaves? Why evolution favour this? What is the purpose of to have small black path on your leaf? I hope this is not so borring question.
