"New" theory of human movement as described by Tesla
« on: 22/12/2022 18:20:10 »
Nikola Tesla, the prominent 20th century inventor, stated in his book "My Inventions" that all human movements appear to come from the will but are are actually generated from the outside. He goes on to say that this phenomenon is of incalculable vale to the human race and he urged further study on it. Does anyone else believe that what Tesla says is actually true? If so should we hold a press conference and "get the word out? Here is what Tesla wrote:

In the course of time it became perfectly evident to me that I was merely an automation endowed with power OF MOVEMENT RESPONDING TO THE STIMULI OF THE SENSE ORGANS AND THINKING AND ACTING ACCORDINGLY.

We are automata entirely controlled by the forces of the medium, being tossed about like corks on the
surface of the water, but mistaking the resultant of the impulses from the outside for the free will. The movements and other actions we perform are always life preservative and though seemingly quite independent from one another, we are connected by invisible links. So long as the organism is in perfect order, it responds accurately to the agents that prompt it,but the moment that there is some derangement in any individual, his self-preservative power is impaired

The truth of this has been borne out in hundreds of instances and I am inviting other students of nature to devote attention
to this subject, believing that through combined systematic effort, results of incalculable value to the world will be attained.

That would depend on what the external influence "wants".

It is an easy to understand concept but not easy to understand to use to get results. I believe what Tesla said in his own words deserve consideration and with this theory in particular in-depth study. I see it in my life and it works for good and bad. Obviously everyone wants good in their lives. So discuss! I'll tell you a story of how it worked for me:

I went above and beyond for someone I didn't know too well. Typically most people only do so much. This person assumed that because I was being so good to them that "something was up" and they acted in a defensive way. Because of that I was rewarded in a big way. It was unusual but it came to me because I used my good actions to get the good results. So I believe that what Tesla meant was essentially in this life "karma" or to be practical "what goes around, comes around." So the "incalculable value" to humanity is that everyone should do good to others and this will create a culture of good worldwide. This is not a new concept. The greatest observers of mankind also said things similar, such as Jesus, Gandhi, John Lennon, Desmond Tutu, etc...

Imprecise use of "generated".

To some extent all animals respond to external stimuli, but breathing,  for instance, is primarily an autonomic response to internally generated carbon dioxide, and most external electrical stimuli would actually stop the heart beating whilst the internal Na/K electrolytic balance keeps it going.

Tesla was very smart and an excellent inventor, but let's not forget that he was a bit of a lunatic and came up with many crazy ideas.

Isn't that just determinism?

Others have stated that too. That could be the case here. But you must agree that the fact that Tesla was 100% sure of this phenomenon it is at least worth looking into. Like I indicated, I have seen the principle work in my life. I have also seen it work with the weather. Like for example, it will be a rainy day but I do certain things without thought of when and that makes me go out at a certain time. At this time the rain stops until I get back. It's like everything is "pushing" everything else. If you act according, like Tesla states, then things go your way. The reverse is also true, big time! Tesla says something like the wrong reactions can cause one to "rush into destruction". This is why the phenomenon is of "incalculable value" to the world.

That depends on the exact definition but the fact that Tesla says it is of "incalculable value" to the world indicates that noting is definitive; we can change what happens by our reactions.

I have to reject that idea since I don't believe in magic.

It's not magic as you use the term. It could be called magic in that it appears to be but it's just the way the world operates". It used to be believed that infection came from the inside. Surgeons did operations will dirty hands. Now we know that infection comes from the outside. One day we will understand that it is impetrative to always act in accordance with the external environment to get the best results in the world. I think that is what Tesla meant.
