The corollary:

No absolute definition exists to determine what criminal act deserves the death penalty.  The situation with the death penalty is that it actually seeks to eliminate a class of people from existence.  If and when we do eliminate the class of criminals that we find intolerable, we will find a new class to eliminate, ad infinitum because the human need to compete, defeat and destroy is insatiable.

Confucius has a few well thought out philosophies....like never take a sleeping tablet and a laxative at the same time :)
