Title: Can you identify this Cave Stone?
Post by: dukme on 13/02/2015 15:03:01
Hi, does anyone know the name of the attached stone taken from a ocean cave?  I'm not sure if this is a plant of some sort or an actual stone shaped by ocean water over time.  Please go here to see photos http://www.reef.org/node/10116

Thank you.

Hi Dukme, welcome,

Whatever it is, it's a beauty!

My first thought would be to acid test it for calcite/aragonite.

Thanks Bill S for the help.  I've been searching on the internet and all indicators point to calcite/aragonite, as you stated.
