Can someone please explain to me the differences between the ' good ' cholesterol and the ' bad cholesterol ' ?

And is this what the two figures represent when you have a cholesterol test ?....what do the figures mean ?

Thanks

my latest was 1.82 or 1.83..

I cant remember how it worked but she said my cholesterol was very good
it used to be about 1.97 0r 1.98.. any way she said that was good to. She does not want it to go above 2.1 or something right there, but mine is usually much lower.

she put me on lipitor because some meds push your cholesterol up higher, but I was allergic to it so we just keep an eye on it and i have no trouble keeping it in range!
there is good and bad the good is easily digested and passes through and the bad cholesterol is not easily removed so i believe there is a difference in the fats polyunsaturated and saturated but I can't remember which is good.. i think polyunsaturated is good and saturated is bad like saturating your body with bad fat!  not sure  if I remember right!
