Can we communicate effectively without pronouns?
« on: 26/01/2023 18:57:34 »
There seems to be a movement in the U.S. and Canada to phase pronouns out of all forms of conversation. They're being seen as another societal norm that oppresses people.

Is this real, or something you made up?

Yes and no. This is based on personal observation and youtube videos. Obviously I don't believe the pronoun world is in any kind of catastrophic danger. What I see as an anti-pronoun movement is only a lobe of the greater cancel culture movement.

How does this manifest?

I'd like to say that I'm not oppressed but that would require the use of a pronoun (twice), clearly indicating that the subject has indeed been oppressed to the point of accepting normal language as a means of communicating.

"My lord, the question the person now speaking would like to put to the jury is whether A hit B where A and B must stand for now-inadmissible pronouns. However since using two different pro-pronouns might be considered discriminatory, the person now speaking is required to ask the jury whether X hit X, and leave it to the members of said jury decide what the hell that means. Not that it matters (if the person speaking may be forgiven for twice using a pronoun) since any subsequent decision would be considered judgmental and therefore inappropriate."
