Best formatting for micro sd card for Android?
« on: 21/08/2019 11:32:51 »
I am fitting a micro sd card to my HTC Desire phone, and want to know if it is best formatted to Fat 32, NFTS or EXT 4? Or does the phone do it automatically? HTC uses in this case Android 7.0.

Off the top of my head I don't know the filesystem to use However, Android is Linux so it will be a combination of processor of your phone X64 or X32 and e.g ext3 or ext2 filesystem or a more processor compatible version as something like /usr/username as an add on to that file drive. Android docs would tell you what to use if you do not put the card in bare raw.

Android uses "exFAT" filesystem.
Specific to Android.
Goto Play store and get
(search "free Android filesystem administration shell" )
Shell terminal emulator
Advanced tools
Linux command library
There are other apps can help load Linux flavour s into the phone to use as an OS with multiple desktops.

Well, no matter how much I formatted memory cards in the phone, they were always formatted in the right format! But in Windows you need to choose the format.

LOL you put the unformatted card in the phone then let the phone do the formatting, this way you know that you have the proper format.  Now if the phone does not see the card then you will have to find the proper format to make the card visible
