Dear TNS Members,

This morning, as I often do, I slipped on a top and jogging pants (no underpants) to go to get my tortoises out for the day. As I did so, still half asleep, I wondered why we ware underwear. Is it just to keep the nether regions warm? Or for vanity or discretion? Is there a physiological advantage or disadvantage to undies?

Thats pretty funny.

Underwear can be a good thing in the event of someone pulling your trousers down for a laugh (although if they weren't expecting you to be au natural, and you're comfortable about showing your bits off, the last laugh could be on them). I would especially recommend the wearing of pants (knickers to you yanks []) if wearing a skirt while standing above a hot air vent in a marilyn-esque fashion.

I suppose there was a time when people wore clothes for more than one day in a row. So underwear would be an advantage for keeping the clothes cleanER and multi wearable without washing.
