Is there any theories or models that enable a black hole to explode?
Would this on a Super massive black hole effectively be a big bang and spawn a universe within a universe?

They sort of explode in a shower of radiation and particles at the end of their lifespans, when Hawking Radiation has caused them to become smaller than atoms.

The explosion is clearly defined and very small on a cosmic scale. It releases only a relatively small amount of energy compared with that of a typical star like the sun which converts about 4million tons of mass into energy every second.
I cannot give you good figures because the hawking radiation calculator app seems to be offline at the moment. does anyone know of another one?

ha ha, that's my theory. infinite and eternal universe and black holes and mega novas along other events replenish the matter through millions of "big bang's"

and yes, they have seen a black hole explode.....

Technically that article is about a GRB - which is a result of matter falling into a black hole. This causes radiation and super-high velocity matter being pushed away from outside the event horizon near the poles. We have not witnessed a black hole exploding as all natural black holes are of such a high mass that - even taking into account Hawking radiation - they are still gaining mass/energy from background heat of universe. Black holes will only start being net radiators way way into the cold dark heat death of our expanding universe - and after many more times the current lifetime of the universe some will get so small that they annihilate in the sudden burst of gamma radiation that is described above

yes a GRB, but from a black hole - read quote from site....at least that's there idea..
Now scientists from the University of Leeds have put forward an explanation for how this intergalactically emitting dynamo could endure so long: it's eating a star.
By consuming a nearby star the black hole would be sucking up an enormous amount of matter, and if it's rapidly spinning (as many of these holes in spacetime are, a combination of concepts that really proves human language wasn't built for relativity) it can twist it all along the intense magnetic field lines being dragged around the event. The gigantic magnetic stresses involved are what give the burst its incredible energy, lasting as long as it takes for the entire star to be consumed.
