Do ewe notice how it is also without a hue of blue ?
Why is there no blue blossom ?....or is ot just the part of the world that I live in ?...but there seems to be just the two types !!..the pink ..the white !!..

that's Chelsea Blue
-
^ Ugh, I hate Chelsea. [:P]

Something I heard recently is that the reds and yellows are for attracting birds and mammals, who have good vision in that area, but generally poor vision in the blue spectrum (humans are one of the exception is being able to cover greens and blues relatively well).
The blue and white flowers are generally to attract insects who generally have better vision in the blue, and even into the ultra violet (many of the white blossoms generally are strongly visible in the ultra violet).
So the colour depends on what animal the plant wants to attract as a pollinator.

You're welcome MR NeilEp

Then it's true...I am ' Blue-Blind '
.....however.....have you ever seen a tree blossoming blue blossoming blossom ?...here in the UK ?
-
The Lilac can be blue(ish) (Syringa vulgaris "Wedgewood blue" for example), but you're right, there are very few trees. This is I think is not only because of the different methods of naural pollination, but also to do with customer demand. Hybrids are made of many flowers, especially roses for their scent or colours, but as trees take rather longer to mature, the flower colour is less in demand.

Well, I always count purple as a shade of blue. During my early teens I couldn't even distinguish purple from navy!
-
I think most people see six distinct colours in the rainbow and that Newton added Indigo as a seventh for religious reasons.
-
Why not pink or brown? Either of those is more distinct that indigo. Granted, there is no brown in rainbow.
