Im just wondering wherther anyone has ever been door stepped by polititians or canvassed by opinion poller during capaigns, as I never ever have and was wondering if all that is estimated or shown on tv is anywhere near reality ? Most I ever had was birthday cards from parties when I turned 18.

I have been, from time to time.
But there's a difference between a candidate (or their supporter) turning up and explaining why they are wonderful, and a pollster turning up and asking which way I am likely to vote.
As for what's on TV, it probably depends.
Most of them are owned by billionaires and that's going to give them a Right wing bias.
Also, some of the polling organisations have a distinct bias.
Here's a summary of some of the surveys on who did well in the TV election debate last night.
