Dirk Slawinski asked the Naked Scientists:

Hi Chris,

I'm just listening to the Oct 11 podcast (http://www.thenakedscientists.com/HTML/podcasts/) (I'm two behind) and considering the similarity to Ross River Virus symptoms and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome are the viruses related?  Since I potentially have Ross River (still waiting for the blood test) I am keen to see how best to manage the lethargy and "arthritis" that I could potentially have for a number of years.

Dirk

What do you think?

Hi Dirk

I don't think so. Ross River has very stereotyped symptoms of arthritis and stiffness. Chronic fatigue is more of a spectrum of symptoms that are also not continuous or consistent in the way the Ross River affects people.

I hope you are feeling better now, incidentally.

Chris
