Is there any proven benefit to drinking the trendy alkaline water that's being advertised at the moment?

Can you help?

No.

Though it might improve your posture by lightening your wallet. And of course your sexual success, because women find men with alkaline breath utterly irresistible. Men can't detect it.

Alkaline water is known for having a low pH level so drink alkaline water has many benefits. As such, drinking it can do wonders for our bodies. For one, our bodies tend to produce acid, usually. However, this level tends to spike, especially when we are tired, stressed, or eating poorly. Drinking alkaline water can help restore our body’s natural equilibrium quicker.

Bullshit.

Alkaline pH is high, not low. Stomach acid has a pH of around 2 - 3. If you are suffering from chronic acid reflux, you need medical treatment. If not, you'd have to drink a hell of a lot of weakly alkaline water to neutralise it (and thus prevent pepsin from digesting your food) or a small slug of an alkali strong enough to destroy your oesophagus.

The stuff that comes out of the tap contains all the hydroxylated protons you need for maintaining good health. You can alkalise it with tea if you like, or just eat your greens like Mum said.

Quicker than what?
We are "designed"  to drink essentially rain water.
That's practically speaking what we drink.

I really dont know, I know that drinking acidic fruit juice converts to alkaline in the digestive process, this is supposed to alleviate lactic acid problems. I am not sure that the alkaline intake metabolises to alkaline.
