Title: Why Did My Printer Conrinue To Print ?
Post by: neilep on 18/02/2009 18:02:41
Dearest Printologists,

See my printer ?

 [ Invalid Attachment ]

Nice eh ?..it has stuff on it !!

Yesterday I needed to print out ten copies of a document....lovely...printed it out well nice !!

Being a greedy sheepy I then wanted to print out a further twenty of the aforementioned document (just a word doc)....

Twenty came and twenty went and the printer continued to print until the paper had run out....this is the third time this has happened !!

Why's that then ?...is it because my crapo-laptopo is just a piece of crapo junk ?...or is it a printer problem ?

Thanks for all your help !

Neil
I Pushed an 'After Eight ' into my forehead. Now, I have an imprint of a mint !

Is it printing just the page you want 20 times or until the paper runs out..... or is it printing different documnts after the first 20?

Mine has done that and it occured after being disconected...  yo need to go into your computer and go into your printer folder and clear your printed documents... then shut down your computer and wait a few seconds boot  it up again and make sure your computer recognises the printer then try again.. making sure you select thecpies yadda yadda yadda.. you know the routine....If it still screws up start counting your sheets beforeprint jobs then cancel prining after last sheet prints....Lol... until someone else can see what else could cause it...
For me.. that has always crrected the problem!
good luck...
check your settings..make sure it i not 20 sets of the 20 copies..you know?

And don't double-click the print button. :P

If you go to Start > Settings > Printers and Faxes (or some such, might be slightly different depending on OS) you should be able to see your printer there, go into that and it should list the current jobs in queue. Make sure your job isn't double listed or something, and if it happens again just cancel it that way.

It could be a software bug in the printer or driver, but it could equally be that you accidentally put 200 in the 'copies' box...?

As one large software vendor used to put in their license agreement "Software is inherently complex and cannot be guaranteed free of error". I don't think they say that any more, although it seems to be more relevant now than ever before.

Kewl !....It's a shame they don't guarantee that the user can be " free of error"  !!

Oh boy !

whilst I was enjoying laying some dog eggs tonight and whilst the Super Puter was in sleep mode....the printer just splurged out a blank piece of paper !!.....what's that all about ?

I think as techmind has stated, perhaps I have a bug or faulty driver. I DO keep the printer on all the time. Should I turn it off when I power down the puter ?..if so...should I turn it off before powering down  ? and should I turn it on before powering up ?

So many printer probs, so many nice peeps to propagate preferential practicalities !  [;D]

That sounds like you ned to go to your printer settings and make sure to uncheck the divider pge.. a blank page that is sometimes inserted at different points of printing...seems like you have to unchec the box...I can't remember for sure...

my 30 year old Laser jet 4m goes crazy if I try to print "Photos" its quite happy with text or PDF but I get this crazy churning out business and can only stop it by cutting the power then I get a paper jam and have to clear out bits of torn paper if I try to print "Photos"
Beware of system updates then it grinds to a halt bleeping "load letter" if I forget to reset things
