The reason why I am poising this question is because their are all these people out there who are paying out lots of money to have there heads surgically removed when they die, and are then having them frozen in the hope that sometime in the future medical advances may allow them to be brought back to life.
Now the way i see it is even if sometime in the future it does become possible to cryogenically freeze a human body or head without damaging its structure and the bring it back to life, I doubt that their would be any memories of there past or of what was learnt during there lives to make the process worthwhile.
But lets say in stead of freezing our heads robotic and cybernetic advances have be made which would give the head a working body so there is now no need to be frozen.
what would it take to supply life to the head and brain.
What processes would have to be artificially reproduced in order for the brain and head to function fully, and could all or most of them bodily functions that would be required be artificially reproduced today.

...at the same time as saying that silly comment above...I admit, it's got me thinking. I reckon it would be possible to do such a thing and keep yourself a happy head !!....surely all you need to do is provide exactly the same fucnctions to and from the head that a body would perform and Hey Presto...you got Mr Head.

surely all you would need to do is attach it to an oxygenated blood supply containing a few minerals.
sex would be a problem though, and maybe we would live longer

In the not to long term you are going to need more nutriants than the heart bypass machine can supply. The liver and many other organs "doctor" our blood to keep the other parts happy. And would you really be happy if you could only look but not touch? How the girls could tease...

Couldn't them nutrients be artifically produced and introduced into the supply of blood.
Life may be boring but to still be alive would be enough for some people, like in cases
when someone dies before there kids are born or grown up.
Plus attach it to a motorised buggy and the world is waiting,just dont look up when shopping with the ladies [:D]

You'd have to some how control hunger and thirst though eh ?....you could have a switch !...There probably would not be a need for hunger and thirst but I suppose from a pleasure/leisure point of view it would be a nice past time !

when someone has an heart attack they pass out straight away, so may be there's a mechanism that would prevent us gaining conciousness if we didnt have a heart.
it would also be a bit hard to speak as the vocal cords require apassing air current to make sounds,so we would have to fit a pump as well as a heart bypass machineand a kidney dialasis machine.
As for pleasure,i suppose you would learn to live with what you've got

Thanks to everyone out there in TNS land who has replied to my question.
However no one has actually answered the question, you know that one at the top of the page.
